Jimmy Friggin Carter

Posted by Kevin Sullivan under Uncategorized

President Carter is apparently doing what President Carter does best: 1. Making an ass of himself, and 2. Legitimizing the behavior of terrorists.

This isn’t about fostering peace and dialogue.  For Carter, it’s always about ego and legacy (Dear God, what if Bill and Dubya do this kind of stuff? I think we might need to place former presidents under house arrest).  Going to Damascus undermines the PA, it undermines the Israeli policy towards Hamas, and–perhaps most importantly!–it undermines our policy towards a terrorist organization.  Carter is handing the prestige of his position and title to a murderous anti-Semite, and he does so in direct defiance of his own country.

Get the leash!

LOL, a thought just occurred to me. Reading your line about the possibility of Bill and Dubya engaging in this kind of thing made me think that this may be one of the best arguments yet in favor of electing an older president like McCain. Let ‘em die off soon after they leave office, less potential for trouble that way!

I was thinking the same thing.

I actually trust Clinton in these kinds of scenarios, because 1. He’s really smart, and 2. He has charisma and some common sense.  Carter is really lacking in the latter.

I’m fine with us putting the Senior Corp. to work, as long as it’s State sanctioned and in line with our message.  I’m a message guy, Christine.  Speak with one voice! :)

Given how successful the American/Israeli policy of isolation towards Hamas has been so far (collective punishment, anyone?), I think it’s a good thing that Carter’s trying to chart a new course.

Okay, I have to get this out of my system, I cast my first vote ever for Jimmy Carter.   Arghh!!! Like Obama he had a special charisma about him. Like the foolish that fawn over Obama, we fawned over Carter, mostly because we were all mad at Ford for his pardoning of Nixon and the way Betty Ford has so much say in how the White House was run. He was seen by many as henpecked as Betty wore the pants in the family. Still, there is a reason Carter has won a special spot in urban language after all. He was and still does have a friendly look and banter but he was ineffective at running this country during even his best moments —>

I cast a vote for Carter as well, though it wasn’t my first.  Just one- however; he didn’t get my ‘80 vote (neither did Reagan).  Carter’s calling card has been his earnestness.  But he’s always been a living example of the saying that the road to hell is paved with good intentions.
