  • Marc Ambinder does yeoman’s work dissecting the various statements from the Obama campaign on negotiating with Iran.  The politicization of this issue is really annoying.  The truth is that the Bush Admin has been in communication with Iran over Iraqi security.  No enrichment preconditions.  What Obama is proposing is not a huge departure from the Bush position.
  • I hate to admit it, but American Idol is pretty good television (seriously, seeing the dude’s brother bawling is too much for me)
  •  Clinton supporters: Shrill, petulant and bitter on day one.

What Obama is proposing is not a huge departure from the Bush position.
Except that Obama would do it at the presidential level, promising to duplicate the move that Kennedy made in ‘61 against advice, which even he immediately recognized as a mistake.

I’m not sure what’s more annoying- Obama’s pandering to the base by pretending that his position is a radical departure from Bush’s, or the fact that the one substantial difference that he does propose is a really boneheaded one. Luckily he’ll probably make Biden his Sec of State, and it looks like Joe is poised to be an elder statesman who will save Obama from himself.
